Agriculture has a big effect on antibioitc resistance. New practices in producing crop such as corn and "training" livestock such as cows to eat things they would not normally eat increases bacteria, making them more resistant.
Antibiotics are not only making bacteria stronger these drugs are actually making your immune system weaker. Your body becomes so immune to drugs that eventually they may not do much for you so you need to incease to this. What Mack said is totally true.
Almost all of the animals raised for food in the United States today are given antibiotics to stimulate growth and to keep them alive in filthy, disease-ridden conditions that would otherwise kill them. Roughly 70 percent of the antibiotics used in the U.S. each year go to animals raised for food. Many health care companies have warned that by giving powerful drugs (via animal products) to people who are not sick, the farmed-animal industry is creating possible long-term risks to human health and will spread antibiotic-resistant super-germs. http://www.goveg.com/contamination_antibiotics.asp
When big farms and companies feed their animals antibiotics, there only doing it to keep them alive in terrible conditions. But everyday, our immune system is getting weaker, and germs could start to become immune to antibiotics, and cause a worldwide pademic
I found the same information that Nick did. Also its harder to treat bacterial infections because the bacteria is more resistant to anitbiotics! This is not good. http://www.hc-sc.gc.ca/hl-vs/iyh-vsv/med/antibio-eng.php
Given so many different antibiotics, like mari said are lowering humans immune systems. Also your body gets so used to these type of drugs that they become useless, and ineffective, also making the germs stronger and be unaffected by drugs.
The reasons behind germs and viruses evolving and becoming harder to kill is the fact us humans are giving them new breeding grounds, fighting them with antibiotics, and weakening our immune systems. The germs are breeding in places where our food is being made and or housed (like cattle or other animals)because there is an abundance of unsanitary conditions. Because of these breeding places for germs they can one get directly into our food or two increase the likely hood of a new natural germ mutation making them harder to kill. The second point is the use of pills and antibiotics. Like mari stated drugs weaken our own immune system while allowing the stronger germs to get stronger and multiply increasing the chances they can infect us.
antibiotics can make a human immune system weaker, making these "super germs" harder to kill. when antibiotics don't kill off the stronger germs, they only grow stronger because they learn how to resist antibiotics

"A dangerous germ whose symptoms are easily mistaken for a routine skin infection has become alarmingly common around the United States, raising concern that seemingly minor boils, pimples and abscesses could increasingly become disfiguring or even life-threatening". This was a story from Trib live news about the super germ. and albie i can't believe how much the super germs can make an impact.
Like mari said they are making the immune system weaker. It is horrible if peopel can actually get sicked after treatment. Bacterias affect people immune system greatly while infected and they are apt to get more sicker than they were before
super germs are being created because antibiotics are being over-perscribed and its not killing the stronger germs, leaving them in the body to become stronger and more resistant to drugs. a lot of people's posting have to do with livestock eating these antibotics and growing the super germs and thats not a good sign for the future to come because if they continue then the germs are just going to get stronger
Germs are becoming immune to our anti-biotics but another reason we are susceptible to "super germs" is because our immune system has become so used to the drugs doing the hard work for them that if a human gets infected and is not able to get any anti-biotics their condition has a large possibilty of getting worse.
I learned that the agriculture business can have alot to do with anti biotic resistant supergerms. When farmers use them on their animals, the supergerms become immune to the antibiotic over time. And i think rachael makes some good points in her post.

I also agree with the facts that Mack found
New agriculture are making cows and other animals trained to eat grain instead of thier natural food
ReplyDeletealbie had alot of facts and they are very concerning

ReplyDeleteThats really scary....theres only so strong of antibiotics we can make....and eventually we will just become immune to those too.
That genetic material is changing due to the food that you eat and making cows eat grain is wierd i cant picture a cow eating grain
