There was a fire that burned for two days which left 11 dead and 17 injured. It became the worst ecological disaster in North America and reached to Louisiana and has covered 9,000 Square Km. I think it is unbelievable how much damage oil can do to the enviornment

ReplyDeletesomeone said that it has cost them $25 million to clean up which seems like a lot but i read they were up to $8 billion in clean up and the oil itself that was lost had value up to $20 billion.

they're also using floating oil barriers to protect sensitive coastal areas

The ramifications of the oil spill have been great. The cost of the pill has reached at least $25 million to clean and the problem hasn't even been fixed yet. The spill has even threatened beaches in florida and cuba which are close if not part of the US. The greatest risk of the spill is its traveling potential once it hits currents. Once the oil reaches into the current the oil could make its way into the keys and texas. In response to this the mexican government has set up booms to help slow the spread of the oil. While the oil is contained it will then be burned and removed from the ocean.

ReplyDeleteThe leak is currently releasing 5,000 barrels of oil per day. The efforts to manage the spill with controlling the burning, dispersal and plugging the leak were unsuccessful. This oil spill is on it's way to be one of the worst oil spill in history

ReplyDeleteThe disaster is the worst oil spill in the North Americas since the Exxon Valdez in 1989, The Gulf of Mexico dead zone has grown to an area as large as 20,000 square kilometres, and is off the coast of Louisiana, Texas and Tamaulipas. Also im really surprised because halfway into june and they still havent fixed this.
