  3. The ramifications are booms being built(as mack and zack said)and floating oil barriers.
The bad thing is is that if weather is bad, then the projection may not hold up.

  6. There was a fire that burned for two days which left 11 dead and 17 injured. It became the worst ecological disaster in North America and reached to Louisiana and has covered 9,000 Square Km. I think it is unbelievable how much damage oil can do to the enviornment

  8. someone said that it has cost them $25 million to clean up which seems like a lot but i read they were up to $8 billion in clean up and the oil itself that was lost had value up to $20 billion.

they are trying to use remote controlled vehicles to plug the leaking oil on the seafloor, which hasn't been much success

they're also using floating oil barriers to protect sensitive coastal areas

  9. A moratorium on drilling for oil along the maritime frontier between Mexico and the United States in the Gulf of Mexico expires in January 2011.

Mexico is planning to speed up exploration on its side of the frontier -- something the U.S. has been doing since 1996.

  10. I think its ironic how rachel said they are using floating oil barriers for sensitive coastal areas

  11. the ramifications in Mexico is that they built booms that were places around the oil, and also $25 million was given in order to clean up the oil from the spill.

Oil can do a lot of damage, it's pretty scary as well as unbelieveable.

  13. The ramifications of the oil spill have been great. The cost of the pill has reached at least $25 million to clean and the problem hasn't even been fixed yet. The spill has even threatened beaches in florida and cuba which are close if not part of the US. The greatest risk of the spill is its traveling potential once it hits currents. Once the oil reaches into the current the oil could make its way into the keys and texas. In response to this the mexican government has set up booms to help slow the spread of the oil. While the oil is contained it will then be burned and removed from the ocean.

  15. The leak is currently releasing 5,000 barrels of oil per day. The efforts to manage the spill with controlling the burning, dispersal and plugging the leak were unsuccessful. This oil spill is on it's way to be one of the worst oil spill in history

  16. As albie posted they are spending $25 million to clean the problem, yet it hasn't been fixed.

  17. The BP-led team reported Tuesday that 29,140 gallons of dispersant had been deployed to break the oil into droplets that can dissolve into the water, and said the crews had recovered 1,152 barrels (43,384 gallons) of an oil-water mix.Though there is still much oil that must be taken care of.25$million dollars is alot of money

  18. i think its such a waste how we're losing so much oil, so much money has been spent to try and plug the leak, and we've been carefully burning the oil to keep the spill from spreading. i was surprised at what brian said i didn't know the spill had reached Louisianna already

  19. ramification that are being done to the oil spill is burnings, booms bieng place, and trying to collect it. i want to know how this oil spill even happened.

  23. The disaster is the worst oil spill in the North Americas since the Exxon Valdez in 1989, The Gulf of Mexico dead zone has grown to an area as large as 20,000 square kilometres, and is off the coast of Louisiana, Texas and Tamaulipas. Also im really surprised because halfway into june and they still havent fixed this.
